I was born at the “Miner’s Hospital” (now called BARH) on Christmas Eve, 1971. My Father, David, was a Coal Miner and my Mother, Linda, is a retired Educator. I was reared in Wyoming County where I graduated from Glen Rogers High School in 1990. After High School, I enrolled in West Virginia University, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology in 1994. After college, I briefly worked in the maintenance department at a large apartment complex in Beckley before beginning my career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. I began my career with the Bureau of Prisons as a Correctional Officer in 1995. I would go on to work as a Case Manager and a Treatment Specialist during my 26+ years with the Bureau. I also served as a Squad Leader on the Prison’s Disturbance Control Team (SWAT) and as the Lead Firearm Instructor for the Prison for nearly 20 years. I retired from the Bureau in 2021. I have been a small business owner since 2005. I married my High School Sweetheart, Jennifer, in 1994 and we have three beautiful children. Our Son, Clay, currently serves our Country in the United States Air Force. Our Daugher, Morgan, is working towards her Teaching Degree at college. Our Daughter, Faith, is currently finishing up her high school studies. My wife and I are members of Bible Baptist Church, MacArthur, where I currently serve as an adult Sunday School teacher. I am 100% Pro-Life and have been endorsed by West Virginians for Life for my consistent support of Pro-Life issues. I am an Endowment member of the NRA and am the only Republican candidate in the 45th District to receive an “A” rating from them. I understand that the importance of the Second Amendment and will always fight for the individual right to keep and bear arms. I support a Parental Bill of Rights that will give Parents more control over the education of their children. I also believe more educational options are needed for Parents and will work to expand the Hope Scholarship. To promote growth in our State, I want to end the personal income tax and reform our corporate tax structure in order to help our businesses grow and to lure new industry into our State. Additionally, I want to reduce/eliminate taxes on individual pensions/retirement accounts in order to establish West Virginia as a leading “retiree friendly” State.
