Running For Fayette County Commissioner

Many important county issues must be addressed, but here’s a few (not all) I’m focused on:
*Addiction and other Health Issues.
*Arts and Crafts and Arts Education Opportunities for our Quality of Life and as a proven Economic Development Driver.
*Animal Care — The contentiousness between Humane Society/Animal Shelter and the Commission needs to be abritrated and solved for the benefit of Public Health/Safety and Animal Care.
Accountability–No matter what “side” you’re on, I think you’ll agree the all-one-party current make-up of the Commission deserves a fresh eye (Beach Vickers) to challenge unpopular Commission decisions like hiring a Charleston attorney instead of using the Prosecuting Attorney we elected and already pay for, not being as transparent as needed in sharing federaL Covid Relief dollars flowing to the County now, delaying for seven days inviting the free National Guard relief assistance in both city and county-run areas hit by recent flash flooding, Commissioners tending to stay away from important outlying areas within the county until up for election, delaying promised fire departments’ monies due them, and asking a public service district to “take out a loan” from the county to assure clean water and waste disposal which should be the county’s goal. I’m not saying any of this is easy work for the Commission. I am saying thank you for considering to send me in to help. Graduating as Valedictorian, Montgomery High, and from Washington and Lee U., Lexington, VA, I served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer teaching during peacetime in both Afghanistan and South Korea. A Montgomery native and current resident, my dedication to public service is demonstrated by my professional career, including being Reporter for The Montgomery Herald, Education Director of the Charleston Regional Chamber of Commerce, Resource Specialist for Morris Creek Watershed, and currently Grant Writer and Community Event Organizer for the City of Smithers. When living temporarily in California as an employee of NBCUniversal, I became a proud member of an affiliated union of the AFL-CIO.
