Our Current Board of Directors

How Are The Board Members Selected?

The board of directors is selected from the membership. The nominating committee takes names of people that have expressed an interest in serving throughout the year; other board members suggest names and the committee tries to find a balance. All, or the majority of businesses, are represented on the upcoming board. Prospective Board members must be a member for one year and in good standing to be considered for a nomination, once they are nominated, they are then approved by the current board of directors and placed on a ballot for approval at the annual meeting. Nominations may be made from the floor as well. The board numbers 18-22 in number and the terms are for three years.

What Are The Responsibilities of a Board Member?

A Board member is mainly to provide governance to the organization. They oversee and approve the budget, any bylaw updates, and the Executive Director/President is answerable to the Board. The Board employees the Executive Director/President. Board members also serve on committees such as Bridge Day, Membership, Education and our newest event the New River Gorge Sports & Car Festival. You don’t have to be a board member to volunteer for our events or committees. It is open to all Chamber Members.
